2001 saw many improvements to the Nellie McKnight Museum.
The Museum was open from noon - 4 pm on Thursday afternoons for the first time in years.  The curator and archivist welcomed many of the society's members as well as members of the public.

The upstairs bathroom was redone and opened for the holiday season.
New exterior paint, and new gutters.

The grape arbor was torn down and rebuilt.  The vines were cut back and the few plants separated in an attempt to encourage new growth.

Nellie McKnight was honored in 2001 as one of the inaugural members of the Ellington Wall Of Honor.  The Ellington first selectman was joined by an honor guard from the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department and members of the public in dedicating the wall.
